CommercialMolor's sister title, Truck & Driver, recently held its first Drivers' Choice Awards in association with our professional truck drivers' webs ite TruckNetUK. At this year's Peterborough Truckfest, T&D and TruckNetUK assembled a team of six full-time truck drivers with years of experience in both UK and Continental work and set them to judge all the flagship tractors on the various manufacturers' stands (only MAN-ERF declined to participate).
Each tractor was awarded points for ease of access, control layout, sleeper appeal, storage space and seating comfort. The winner, with 350 points out of a possible 500, was the Iveco Stral is Super' high-roof 6x2 artic. beating more-established competition from the likes of Volvo, Scania and Oaf. In particular the judges praised "the giant strides Iveco has made in finally ensuring it has a decent contender in the elite flagship stakes".
