YOUR ARTICLE entitled 'Tories support L1-IV trials—if university report backs them' (CM 29 November) gives the impression that Heriot-Watt University is the main contributor to the longer, heavier vehicle study.
An article in The Times on 26 November also described me as the "main authorof the report.
In fact, the bulk of the work on the LHV study has been undertaken by Transport Research Laboratory and TRL staff have written most of the final report. While we have made a significant contribution to the research, it is only part of a much larger study.
