• Motoplat has introduced two items for the testing of diesel engines, a timing light and a smoke meter.
The CV230 timing light tests the injection timing, engine speed and condition of the injection system as well as the governor function, says the company. It can be powered via mains or the vehicle's battery and is said to have a rug ged design to cope with a workshop environment.
Measuring the amount of smoke being produced by a truck engine can be done by the mains.powered CV 490 diesel smoke tester. A probe is inserted into the exhaust, the capacity of the sample is measured and displayed on the scale.
