A MECHANIC HAS been convicted of murder after he stabbed an operator's son to death just 24 hours after being bailed for an earlier assault during a longrunning feud.

Gavin Hogg will serve at least 20 years of a life sentence after being found guilty of the murder of David Burrows, son of M&B Haulage chairman Darrell Burrows.

The Burrows family has thanked the jury for its "commonsense approach", adding: "As a family we have endured an extremely difficult time in the period before this was brought before the court. We're now trying to rebuild all our lives now this matter has been dealt with."

Speaking after the trial, Detective Superintendent Phil Sedgwick said: "I believe that Hogg went there that day armed with a knife, fully intent on doing harm to whoever got in his way. He is a dangerous man and prison is the safest place for him.
