NEW BUS services introduced in Watford are being publicised under the banner name of Watfordwide.
London Country introduced the new pattern of routes at the beginning of this month, after a two-year programme in which Hertfordshire County Council and LC had analysed the operation and patronage of services in the area.
A major effort has been made to recruit staff for the company's Watford Garage, as five extra drivers are needed at it and Hemel Hempstead for the new pattern. Even now, 30 vacancies exist at Watford.
New Leyland Atlanteans and Nationals have been drafted in to modernise the Watford bus fleet, and the company says these will oust notoriously unreliable" AEC Merlins which were inherited nine years ago from London Transport.
