Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The Trades Union Congress has pledged to back a campaign to stop police from breath-testing truck drivers who are sleeping in their cabs.

The United Road Transport Union, which has been in the forefront of the campaign, moved the motion at the TUC annual conference. It highlighted the plight of two drivers who have already appeared in court this year, accused of being drunk in charge of vehicles while asleep in their cabs. The charges were dismissed in both cases.

URTU leader Frank Griffin attacked the drink-driving laws as "Dickensian".

We don't want the law weakened," he said, "We want a code produced that will allow a fair interpretation of the law so it will not be discriminating against Britain's lorry drivers."

The TUC also passed a motion calling for improved pay and rest facilities for LGV and PCV drivers.

0 The TUC has unveiled a survey which shows that 82% of the public want more money spent on public transport.
