kN AEC 44-seater sold by 3ernard Cotter, founder and :hairrnan of Cotter's Tours, the 3cottish coach group, in 1962, when it had covered 150,000 niles, unexpectedly returned to is workshops for renovation. It s now operated by two brothers, Hope and Ian Brownrigg, at Thornhill, Dumfriesshire, and has logged half a million miles on tours in Britain and on the Continent.
Even the original valve radio set still works perfectly and the Brownrigg brothers believe that their £3,000 investment in refurbishment — the price, incidentally, that Bernard Cotter paid for the vehicle 22 years ago — will be money well spent. That sum today would barely buy a new skateboard.
