Identification codes

INTERNATIONALLY uniform container number codes are on the agenda for next month's meeting of the ISO Technical Committee on Freight Containers.

Lloyd's Register of Shipping, 71 Fenchurch Street, London, EC3, is undertaking preparatory work on a register and would be pleased to hear from operators who may specify their own code unless it clashes with one already registered, in which case the nearest code will be allocated. The code must consist of four characters.

The National Economic Development Office has a special committee studying the setting up of a national register of owners' codes.
