Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Dozens of drivers fear their livelihood could be affected by redundancies at a Yorkshirebased supplier of gearboxes.

The drivers are employed on a contract basis to deliver the gearboxes and other equipment for David Brown Vehicle Transmissions of Huddersfield and its subsidiary David Brown Heatech.

David Brown Vehicle Transmissions is laying off 112 production workers, and contract driver Stephen Halmshaw says: "The fear is that the redundancies could have a snowball effect on us drivers. I have boon a driver for 15 years but I may not have a job within 14 months as a result of the end of this contract," A spokesman for David Brown says: ''The redundancies are regrettably taking place following the end of a contract in October with the Ministry of Defence involving the supply of gearboxes."
