• National Expressliners is to order 75 more Volvo Plaxton Expressliner coaches for lease to National Express contract operators. There are already 20 in service with 25 being built for named operators.

National Express requires contracting operators to lease Expressliners when contracts are renewed, although sonic operators are bringing other vehicles into NE service before contracts expire. Contracts average about three years, but vary according to the type of service, region and length of experience.

Operators lease vehicles through National Expressliner, a company established jointly by NE and Plaxton and administered by Plaxton's financial subsidiary Roadlease, which provides contract maintenance.
