• In addition to the recent changes to the Trafic and Master ranges, Renault has made the five-speed gearbox standard in the whole of the Renault Extra range, and given the Extra new seat coverings.
Head restraints are also standard now for all the Extra vans, and the company has opted to retain the flap in the rear of the body which allows long loads to be carried.
Renault also has a new leasing programme that offers subsidised rates on its van range. • German bodybuilder Eder has developed an unusual folding six-wheeled transporter based on the 3.5-tonne Ford Transit chassis cab. The rear of the Transit's frame is removed and a hinged rear section is fitted in its place to allow easy loading. A two-piece propshaft drives the leading axle and a single air baesuspension is used. The 4.95m aluminium platform can carry loads of up to 1.8 tonnes.
