YLAND'S long-awaited heavy vehicle range for the Eighties curently known as T45 — will be launched in March of next tr.

is announcement was made by Leyland Vehicles' sales and rketbig director, Frank Andrew, at a press conference to olain the reasons for the delay — the T45 has been expected lost monthly for some considerable time now.

/11 Andrew was quite firm in assertion that there have !n no technical problems 'id the postponements. e March date has been )en so that production tides can be made in the ✓ £32m assembly hall curtly nearing completion as • of the vast Leyland in ;talent programme — but name is yet known for the tide.

10 :h Mr Andrew and sales I marketing director — UK !rations Ian Wilson admitthat previous statements teeming the T45 launch had m premature and inmzed by problems with the twthon.

• the Marathon in Mark 2 form has improved greatly, so a rush to bring out the T45 was partly alleviated.

A temporary production facility at Leyland (in what was the old engine test-shop) has been in operation for some time producing the T45, several of which are going into service in the Leyland works fleet and with selected operators.

In total 10 vehicles are planned for the works fleet and 30 to 40 with the operators, which include several oil companies. Texaco will be the first to get a T45.
