ROWNTREE Mackintosh Distribution managing director George Hill has won the 1979 Herbert Crow Medal and a Chartered Institute of Transport awara for his paper on Trunk Haulage and Retail Distribution.

Mr Hill was presented with the Winc.anton Award by CIT incoming president Dr L. St J. Devlin at the Commonwealth Hall in London last week.

Dr Devlin took as the theme for his address "The Role of the Institute in Society.

Other award winners to receive their prizes were, Southampton City Transport general manager W. S. Lewis for his paper, The Struggle for the Development of Bus Priority Schemes Since the Early 1960s; Freight Transport Holdings managing director J. G. Griffiths for his paper Some Commercial Aspects of Road Haulage; and Jafar Wafa of Pakistan for his paper on Urban Transport Planning in Developing Countries.
