Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

SEDDON ATKINSON's 400Series tractive unit range is to get a new single-reduction driving axle, which will be revealed for the first time at the Scottish Motor Show.

Designated RA-57, the axle was first developed and built in the USA by International Harvester, SA's parent cornpany and is already a standard fitment on six heavy-duty IH truck models and an option on nine others. Specifications of the RA-57 are shown below.

Ratios available, with their respective maximum torque .nputs are 3.73, 13,560Nm :10,000 lbft); 4.44, 11,887Nm :8,250 lbft); 4.78, 11,887Nm :8,250 lbft); 6,14, 8,678Nm 400 lbft).

The axle will not displace ieddon Atkinson's SA-13 hub cduction model, but is being ntroduced as part of a pro;ramme to increase the iumber of "in-house" corn )onents used in the company's 'ehicles. Rockwell's single reduction axle is currently offered as an option.

Initially Seddon Atkinson will handle the hub-end detail, brakes, axle-case and drive flange, while IH will supply the differential assembly and halfshafts. The ratios available make the new axle particul, larly suitable for the increasingly popular lowrevving, high-torque engines.
