WEARSIDE busmen staged a protest over the lack of cab heating on some of the Northern vehicles in the Sunderland area — but the Traffic Commissioners say the heating is quite satisfactory.
Transport and General Workers Union officials say that the drivers in some vehicles were forced to stuff newspapers inside their trouser legs to keep warm during last winter. The union says the stoppage, which affected 3C vehicles and left hundreds oi commuters stranded in th( • area, is not the fault of thE management.
