THE INTRODUCTION of tachographs into Britain's road haulage fleet is quite feasible within the Government's target of two years, according to Dundee's Veeder-Root.

Veeder-Root chief Robert Nickerson said: "I think the timetable proposed by the Government is practical and can be met by both manufacturers and operators.

This is a programme we have been working on fo about four or five years now and we will be adding staff an facilities to cope with the ex pected demand."

Officials of the FTA hay; already said the Government' timetable is "absurd" an "wildly optimistic." The suggest three to five years as more realistic time.
