He succeeds John Guttridge, RO since 1965, who is to continue full time n the editing and development of the ssociation's monthly journal Freight. Before iining the FTA Mr Pearce was PRO for the ritish Safety Council.
. M. Birch has been elected deputy chairman f Lancashire United Transport. Geoffrey Walker has been appointed a director of PD Wharfage and Transport, part of the Powell Duffryn Group.
Lord Buckhurst, a director of the British Electric Traction Company, has been appointed chairman of Reclamation and Disposal Ltd, one of its wholly owned subsidiaries.
Geoffrey T. W. Thompson, 27. is leaving United Automobile Services Ltd. an NBC subsidiary, to become eastern division area superintendent with the West Riding Group of Companies on November 1 in succession to A. P. Chapman who retires early in the New Year. Trevor Smallwood, 25. from Yorkshire Traction Co Ltd. will succeed P. J. Nash — who has joined Tyneside PTE — as West Riding western division area superintendent. Maurice Drinkwater has been appointed managing director of W. W. Drinkwater Ltd. the waste control and transport group, and Richard Knight becomes deputy md. Colin Drinkwater remains chairman.
David Lowe, 37, who previously operated an independent transport consultancy, has joined Ailsa Trucks Ltd, UK concessionaire for Volvo Trucks, as sales service manager. Mr Lowe was at one time a member of the staff of CM.
Victor P. Rigby, 51, works director of the hydraulics division of Edbro Ltd, Bolton, for the past six years, has been elected to the board of Edbro (Holdings) Ltd.
F. David Ross, 52, has been promoted sales director of Reynolds Boughton Ltd.
