ABATTERY-POWERED refrigeration plant is a feature of a mobile butcher's shop recently put into service by Cardiff Co-operative Society. The . body provides 'a floor area of 100 sq. ft. with headroom of 6 ft. 4 ins, in the centre.

The batteries which supply the current for the refrigeration unit are accommodated under the floor and they can be charged without the need for removing them. Current is also taken from these batteries to. heat the water for the folding wash-basin.

Equipment includes a glazed showease counter having sliding doors on the inside which provide access to nine rack-mounted plastic trays. A large refrigerated cabinet topped by an 8-ft. cold counter is also fitted with' tray racks.

On the near side of the body is a small cabinet with drawers; the top of this cabinet forms a small counter on which the bash register is carried.

The body was built and equipped by the repair department of the Society, the outfit being based on a Karrier CK3 3-4-ton chassis—a, popular model of low floor height for use in mobile shops of all kinds.
