Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• In our issue of 29th October we printed an unsigned letter which made a series of criticisms of Steven Norris, the Director General of the Road Haulage Association. We now accept that the assertions it contained were not true. We accept that there has been no change in the method of accounting for the income of the Association. We also accept that at no time has any member of the staff of the RHA been employed other than in the direct interest of the Association. Finally, we accept that Mr Norris has raised the profile of the RHA substantially and that the establishment of the Westminster office by the RHA was intended to further the ability of the Association to lobby opinion formers on relevant road haulage issues. We apologise to Mr Norris for this misleading and damaging letter.
