Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Vat RIDE of place of the exhibits on this stand must unquestionably be given to the polished Conqueror chassis. This particular vehicle incorporates the efficient four-cylindered Halley engine which was introduced about a year ago at the Scottish Motor Show. Rated at 30M h.p., the unit is capable of develop ing 85 b.h.p. at 2,600 r.p.m. With Ricardo combustion chambers, masked inlet valves and a dual inlet manifold, all modern demands, in so far as design is concerned, are adequately met.

All the auxiliaries are mounted on the near side, so that the unit is particularly suitable for use in conjunction with forward control. The crankcase. is a deep casting and the sump is jointed in only one plane. An extension of the crankcase carries a four-speed gearbox; the clutch is enclosed.

The cardan shaft, is of the HardySpicer type, supported Centrally by a large ball bearing carried in a steel bracket attached to a tubular crossmember of the frame. As might be expected in a vehicle of this type, fourwheel brakes are standardized, their operation being assisted by a Dewandre servo motor. . A 30-seater double-purpose bus or coach is shown mounted on one of the flionqueror chassis, the bodywork being by Messrs. F. D. Cowieson and Co., of Glasgow, : The largest goods Model shown is the 5-ton forward-control model EF2, with a flat platform lorry body and a cab. The wheelbase of this machine is 11 ft., giving a platform space of 14 ft. 6 ins., with a turning circle of only slightly more than 40 ft. The cab, incidentally, can be quickly removed (inside 10 minutes), thus giving marked accessibility for overhaul work. The power unit employed is identical to that in the Conqueror chassis. A separate fourspeed gearbox is used together with a worm-driven rear axle, Of interest to municipal authorities is a refuse-collection vehicle fitted with a Bromilow and Edwards hydraulic end-tipping duetless refuse-collection body, having a load capacity of 2i tons, or 7 cubic yards. The body is mounted on a semi-forward-control-type chassis, the driver's seat being placed almost imirkdiately behind the engine with the steering gear and all controls. brought as far forward as possible.

With this arrangement a full-width cab can be fitted and enables a _driver and two passengers to be carried in comfort.

The exhibit is completed by a 26-40 h.p. four-cylinder-et.igined 3-ten vehicle mounted on pneumatic tyres and equipped with efficient brakes.
