Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

EDDIE STOBART has applied to remove the Tesco distribution operating centre on the Stakehill Industrial Estate in Middleton, Manchester from its licence.

The move is as a result of the decision made last year by Tesco to close its 20-year-old 298,820ft2 chilled and cold storage Middleton DC, run by Stobart, and switch the operation to Stobart’s new 528,000ft2 chilled distribution facility in Widnes.

Tesco said the number of stores the Middleton site serviced had grown considerably and that the facility could no longer meet “current or future demands” . According to the irm, Stobart’s Widnes facility will allow it to explore opportunities to “further reduce freight travelling by road” because of its access to a port and railhead. Last year Tesco also announced plans to close its DC in Middlewich, Cheshire, and move the operations to the Widnes centre.
