o■fter unveiling an astonishingly lightweight all-carbon-fibre tipper at ast year's Hanover Show, The Team Technology is already planning to

expand its product line-up Brian Weatherley reports.

The Team Technology, the German consultancy group that last year displayed an all-carbon fibre tri-axle ipping trailer weighing just 3.600kg at the :Ianover truck show (CM 30 September 2004) S promising to expand its trailer portfolio in l006 with an ultra-lightweight curtainsider, a :ontainer skeletal and bulk silo tipping-tanker :hassis all made out of carbon fibre.

At the NEC Truck Show TTT joint MD Hans luergen Lange exclusively told CM that it's Jeveloping an all-carbon-fibre bulk tipping :anker chassis weighing just 2.5 tonnes, capable pf taking a 64m3 barrel. Lange says the vehicle will be ideal for bulk sugar or powdered coal, used with a new barrel or "as a substitute for a worn out metal frame and running gear capable Icarrying a V2A/V4A tank-.

TTT's carbon-fibre 'mega' curtainsider, with a three-metre interior height, would tare in at an astonishing 3.5-tonnes fully bodied roughly half the weight of a conventional curtainsider built with a steel ladder chassis."It will have a 50% weight saving," confirms Lange adding, it will feature -standard axles and components within a monocoque chassis with built-in valances and wheel arches". The third trailer in TTT's carbon fibre product line is a 9.12m long skelly, handling 20 or 30ft 'heavy' single boxes and ISO tanktainers grossing up to 37 tonnes. For ISO tanktainer work the skelly will have "a built-in over-spill and drainage system".

The carbon fibre container carrier will have a kerbweight of 1.5-tonnes, some 15-20% below the tare of a comparable aluminium skelly says Lange. He says it will also have a unique "wireless" lighting system that does away with a conventional electrical loom, as well as automatic air/electrically-operated twistlocks. side valances and anti-spray kit which automatically lowers above 40Iun/h.

TTT's carbon-fibre tipper has been busy running trials with a 4x2 tractor hauling 33tonne payloads on German roads, including tackling tight turns around German mini roundabouts. So far no problems have been reported. Meanwhile, Lange confirms that the next generation of carbon fibre products will heat the IAA Hanover truck show in September 2006. •
