DRIVER to drive without a licence has cost Carlisle-based Eddie Stobart £1,500 in fines and costs.

The company pleaded guilty to the offence by letter to the Barking magistrates and was ordered to pay £500 plus £1,000 costs.

Gary Grimsh aw, prosecuting for VOSA, told the court that a 44-tonne artic belonging to the company and driven by Terence Williams had been stopped in a roadside check. Williams was unable to produce his driving licence and it was revealed that he was not entitled to drive vehicles in category C+E.
