Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

NEWBURY-BASED general haulier Chartatruc (Transport) was sold last week after administrators were called in by one of the firm's financiers.

Boston Commercial Finance factored debts and financed equipment for Chartatruc: it called in administrators on 19 April after Chartatruc defaulted on repayments.

Chartatruc was snapped up by Blueways Commercial and is now trading under that name.

John Waller, partner at administrators The Thompson Partnership, says Chartatruc also owed money to subcontractors.

Waller adds: "The natural course now would be for Chartatruc to be put into liquidation, but that will be up to the directors."

It is unclear exactly why Chartatruc had got into difficulty but Nigel Cloutt, operations manager at Blueways, reports that the firm had previously been sold to businessmen Gilbert McCluskey and Musa Rajaratnam.

• Anybody who is owed money by Chartatruc should contact The Thompson Partnership, 30 Derby Street, Ormskirk, Lanes L39 2BY; phone 01695 585440.
