• Union officials say Conoco's 205 drivers have "been sold down the river" by the oil company's 24 fitters in a ballot in which staff narrowly accepted a cut in pay.
The Transport & General Workers Union says that the result-115 for; 110 against; with four papers not returned— does not reflect drivers' opposidon to the proposal, which they fear will cut their pay by 18%.
"One pay agreement covers drivers and fitters so both groups of employees were polled together," says Conoco,
