Since my comment on that pop record Convoy I've been sent one—by Ford, who with typical initiative have got themselves a nice slice of TV publicity with their Transcontinental convoy on Top of the Pops. My record has a Ford sleeve on it and the back cover is devoted to translations of the slang. Like: fat load, pregnant roller skate, green stamp road, hammer, plain wrapper, etc etc. (Respectively : overload, VW, tollway or turnpike, accelerator, unmarked police car—a Q car over here.)
