Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

PIE Lim OVER ONE million pounds—that's the amount Greater Glasgow Passenger Transport Executive reckons to have lost through Industrial action from May 1974 to May 1975.

During the same period the wastage rate for drivers of crewed buses was 72.1 per cent.

These figures are quoted in the PTE's annual report and accounts for 1974-75, published this week.

The actual trading result for the year was a deficit £1,501,000. Apart from industrial action, the other principal reason for the loss is said to be the 30 per cent rise in operating expenses over 1973/74. The expenses were £21m-10 per cent greater than budgeted.

During the year limited numbers of two new types of double-decker—the Ailsa and Metropolitan—were put into service for evaluation. Also reported is the co-operation with other Passenger Transport Executives in a joint engineering project to devise the specification for a standard city bus.

Included in the results for the first time is provision for future capital costs incurred in replacing buses. These are charged in 12 annual instalments by charging to the revenue account the appropriate instalment of the difference between the original and replacement cost of vehicles.
