Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A controversial tyre mountain on a Norfolk industrial estate is to be demolished by Cambridgeshirebased recycling company Murfitts Industries.

The removal of 250,000 tyres from Tattersett Business Park, near Fakenham, will take 12 weeks and is rumoured to be worth around £200,000 to the waste and scrap firm.

Murflits is expected to take the tyres back to its littleport premises and shred them for commercial uses, such as sports pitches and children's playgrounds.

Arthur Allen, managing director for Listawood, the firm nearest the tyre mountain, says he has campaigned long and hard to get rid of the tyres, which were dumped on the land in 1998.

"I'm pleased to see the buggers go!" he adds.

Work was expected to begin on 23 May, but due to a contractual hiccup the clean-up has been delayed. Murfitts industries MD Mark Murat says the operation will start in the next few weeks.
