Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE present British importers of DAF Daffodil private cars. DM' Concessionaires Ltd., 10 Albemarle Street. London, W.I, are considering importing DAF light vans and pick-ups based on the Daffodil car and having the Variomatic fully automatic transmission, if the importation of these vehicles is decided upon, it will certainly start this year. and could well commence within the next month. No prices have been fixed as yet.

The DAF light commercials, like the cars, have a 750 c.c., twin-cylinder, aircooled engine with a gross power rating of 30 b.h.p. The transmission consists of a centrifugal clutch in unit with the engine, from which the drive passes through an open propeller shaft into frame-mounted, spiral-bevel gearing. Two large belts drive the rear wheels by means of variable-diameter pulleys, and because the diameters change according to engine torque and road speed, a completely variable transmission-ratio effect is given, the only gear control for the driver being a lever for the selection of forward or reverse. The vehicle has all-independent suspension, rack-and-pinion steering and hydraulic brakes, and is probably one of the most simple commercial vehicles to drive that has ever been built.
