Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AT a Lor,7 Driver of the Year national executive committee meeting in Coventry on Tuesday, it was decided that penalties in the snooker and widthjudging tests of the L.D.O.Y. final at Bramcote on September 13 will be reduced by 50 per cent, the proportion being open to some variation by the clerk of the course in the case of the snooker test; in which, as before, the penalty will be non-cumulative. Drivers in the widthjudging test will be penalized half a mark per inch in excess of 2 in. over the vehicle width in place of one mark per inch, and 5-ft. pylons of the original type will be used in this test in place of midget pylons. The clerk of the course will be given the option of changing the angles of the two sets of pylons, the probable arrangement being 45° for the first set and 60' for the second.

Basically the kerb narking test will remain unchanged. whilst the simulated bay in the diagonal reversing test will be located on the driver's side to facilitate the manteuvring of articulated vehicles. Various members of the committee emphasized that articulated vehicles were the salt of the competition and before this decision was made had recommended that the tests should be simplified for their benefit.

Approval was also given to duplication of the tests by dividing the classes into two groups: A to D (and S), and El to H. This was recommended in place of brranging the classes into two groups with alternate classes in each group.

A new type of equipment will be standardized for the tests. comprising Greenham rubber pylons and tubular-framed barriers covered with expanded metal mounted on castors. This equipment will be lighter and easier to handle than the existing type and should have a longer life.

After a long discussion on protest systems, the suggestion was approved that protests should be made in writing and handed in at the results office. Notice of this will be given in the regulations, together with the stipulation that any protest must be made within 15 minutes of the class results being posted on the notice board.
