Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Linking of hotels and transport in this country has not really gone very far, even though ; State-owned facilities have been grouped in various ways under successive parcels of legislation. In the States this is getting to be a really tied-up business, and the latest big move is the acquisition by Holiday Inns of the company which owns the Continental Trailways bus and coach organization.

Of course, in the USA the advantages of scale come into the picture: Holiday Inns owns or operates about a thousand hotel/ motel properties in America and Canada. TCO Industries, which owns Trailways, also has a near-monopoly holding in Delta Steamship, which runs deep-sea cargo services. Quite apart from obvious advantages in joint publicity, prearranged stop-over points and so on, the concerns expect to gain from joint planning, so that siting of accommodation stimulate bus travel, and bus terminals provide company-owned accommodation. It could be quite a big thing—and they're now talking of expansion of their plans in Europe.
