THE " As and Ds" this week are again dominated by applications for B licences in most areas by Glacier Foods Ltd. which, as mentioned in The Commercial Motor last week is seeking facilities to carry frozen foods and empties on return for J. Lyons and Co. and its subsidiaries and "any goods" for Fropax Ltd. over varying radii. Applications this week appear in the Yorkshire, South Eastern, North Western and Metropolitan Areas (those in the latter are not detailed below because they are specifically annotated to the effect that they are applications made under the provisions of section 180 of the 1960 Act, indicating that Glacier is the holding company for Lyons Maid, Eldorado, Neilson Ltd., Neilsons Gaiety Ltd. and Dicky Bird Ltd.) and involve a total of 382 vehicles.
Several applications appear in the Metropolitan publication for contract switches to B licence for tipping vehicles in respect of building and roadmaking plant, etc., for F. E. Charman Ltd. and solid fuel for associated companies. The vehicles are currently operating under contract to Charman.
