Motorway charges

• Hauliers are reminded that from this month the Federal Government of Germany requires any truck driver using the county's motorways to pay new charges and carry a certificate as proof of payment.

Trucks up to three axles pay DM 12 a day (15); DM 40 a week (.C16.80); DM 150 a month (.03) or DM 1,500 a year (630). Those with four or more axles pay DM 12 a day (£5); DM 66 per week ( .C28) ; DM 250 per month (E105) and DM 2,500 per year (L1,050).

Certificates are available now within Germany. Refunds for those taking a truck off the road are only available to those paying the yearly charge. Charges also apply in Denmark and Luxembourg (see page 6).
