• A summary of the provisions affe transport contained in the Local Go' ment reform legislation is now avai from the Department of the Envirom The circular refers to the Local Go ment Act 1972 and the report of the S. Group on Local Authority Manage Structures (the Bains Report) and set: to provide factual information on changes affecting transport.
The circular concludes by stressin, urgent need to give full consideration t proposed changes — mainly concernin level of public transport services and th ordination of the operators who have tc vide them — as soon as possible. It ad that the committees being established Section 264 of the Act should prov "very suitable forum" for discussion.
