Fraikin spots 'green shoots' for UK contract hire market

EZEMEMIll

FRAIXIN, THE management specialist, has sounded an optimistic note for the UK contract hire sector.

Speaking exclusively to CM, Laurent Bonnaure, Fraikin's international director, says that from the beginning of January, there have been positive signs of activity: He adds: "As you might think in times of difficulty, our clients are focusing on their core activities and they are concentrating their capital expenditure in these areas."

"The result is a shift to outsourcing of services, and fleet management is an area of interest for many customers. We had thought this might result in a lift for the short-term rental business, but we're actually seeing the lift in long-term contract hire activity, which is a positive signal for business confidence."

Bonnaure adds that while these first signs of revival were seen in the UK in January, there are now signs other markets in Europe France and Spain are beginning to follow suit.

• Watch out for an interview with Fraikin's international boss in a forthcoming issue of CM.
