Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A gang of smugglers who mounted a sophisticated operation to bring £8m worth of heroin into the IjIc are in jail this week after the truck they were using became stuck at the entrance to the Blackwall Tunnel.

Customs officers swooped on the British-registered truck they had followed from Dover as it tried to enter the outside lane of the tunnel. As the alarms went off the truck was forced to stop and officers grabbed the gang members. They found 100kg of heroin hidden in an intricately designed bellytank.

The occupants of an escort car that had turned round to see what was happening to the truck were also arrested. Following the arrest, customs says: "They were sitting in the lorry a bit shocked by it all. Other elements of their operation, like the concealment of the drugs, were quite sophisticated."

Four Turks and a Dutchman of Iranian origin were this week being questioned by Customs officers who had followed the load from Romania.
