The boss of delivery company TNT could be named as new head of Royal Mall Group within the next fortnight.
Alan Jones is believed to been a shortlist to succeed R chief executive John Roberts, who retires next month. In past, Jones was one of the fiercest critics of Royal Ma monopoly on low-cost deliveries, but few could match credentials to lead the company as the government expot it to increasing competition.
A TNT spokesman declined to comment on Jones's pos ble appointment, but a spokeswoman for Royal Mail cc firmed that a successor to Roberts is due to be announc before Christmas.
