THOUGH THE Department Transport has lost 590 staff b tween April 1979 and October this year, another 27 have joini during the last year.
Prime Minister Margar Thatcher, who gave the figures in the Commons, sa that on April 1, 1979 the Depa merit had 13,908 staff, on Oct her 1, 1980, 13,291 and on Oct bar 1 this year 13,318.
Transport was one of only tv Departments to sign on mo staff over the last year — ti other was Employment, whil had taken on a further 6,515
