OBITUARY

We regret to record the death of Maj. Richard Albert Belcham Smith, MC. Mai. Smith (84) was a former president of the Commercial Motor Users Association. After World War II he became a vice-president of the National Road Transport Federation and he was on the management committee of the British Road Federation as well as an Institute of Transport council member. As a consultant he advised both the Road Haulage Association and the AA. A pioneer of reinforced concrete road construction, he had been a member of the council of the British Portland Cement Association and a director of the Cement and Concrete Association.
