EEXTRA road services will be provided when the greater part of the old Midland and Great Northern Joint Line, extending for 165 miles over East Anglia, is closed to passenger traffic on February 28. Most of the line will also be closed to freight traffic. It is expected that about Elm. a year will be saved.
The State-owned Eastern Counties Omnibus Co., Ltd., will operate more than 500,000 extra miles a year. The Lincolnshire Road Car Co., Ltd., and others will also improve their services.
Rail cartage facilities for goods from established railhead depots will be extended.
