QTAT1NG that he considered that the applicant had been running his lorry illegally, the Northern Licensing Authority granted Mr. J. S. Bradley, of Stanhope, County Durham, permission to operate his 3-tonner,within a 12-mile radius.
The applicant stated that he hired his vehicle to a local firm, driving it himself, and was paid 'a rent for the lorry• and wages for his services. He had no carrier's licence, but the firm had one. He also worked for another concern, but was never required to take the vehicle away from the company's yard. He stamped his insurance card himself as a self-entployed person and neither customer 'paid any contribution. The Authority said that it seemed to him that Mr. Bradley had employed a subterfuge.
MOTORBUSES v. TROLLEYBUSES WEST HARTLEPOOL intends to W replace trolleybuses by motorbuses on the West Hartlepool-Hartlepool route. At present the trolleybuses are jointly operated by West Hartlepool and Hartlepool Corporations, but West Hartlepool is not to renew the agreement when it expires next year.
Hartlepool , Corporation has no transport system of its own, but shares the profits with West flardepool on the service connecting the two towns and suggests that the present arrangement should be continued.

Sections deal with road law, maintenance attentions, safe driving and action to be taken in an emergency. Copies have been given to all drivers in the service of Hoover, Ltd., and its associated companies in Britain.
