What are the most popular truck liveries.., among collectors? We asked truck model supplier Search lmpex to find us the 10 best-lookers on the road.
Words: Justin Stanton Jim and Brenda Newsome When we decided to come up with a list of the top 10 favourite truck liveries, we turned to customised promotional model vehicle specialist Search Impex for some input. But while more than willing to help, it turned out to be a much trickier task for Search lmpex than we had imagined.
Many livery 'gems' are to be found among owneroperators and the smaller fleets often based in rural areas and sometimes in relatively remote locations and are therefore not widely seen or known by a mass audience. According to Search Impex's Brenda Newsome, Scottish and Irish operators are particularly known for customising their trucks and trailers in attractive liveries, giving them great appeal to many model collectors and truck-spotters.
-It's almost impossible to be objective about a topic which is so subjective." adds fellow director Jim Newsome. "Any list has the potential to be controversial and is sure to inspire comment and debate. Much will depend on your angle of interest be it spotter, model collector, haulier or simply a truck industry enthusiast and a great deal will also depend on where in the UK you are, which liveries you see passing through your area, and (in terms of fleet size) how visible the liveries are on the road."
