FREIGHT Transport Association vice-chairman HERBERT NETTLESHIP has become managing director of United Distribution Services, part of the newlyformed packaging, tableglass, and distribution group of United Glass. Mr Nettleship, who has been with UG since 1966, now has responsibility for UG Distribution and Robson's Border Transport, the Carlisle haulier bought by UG in 1980.

Three managing directors have been appointed to the product subsidiaries of the National Freight Consortium's National Services Group, which starts business on October 1. National Carriers western managing director DAVID SMITH takes charge of Fleetcare, which will manage 35 repair centres and 70 engineering centres providing engineering services to commercial vehicle operators. Before joining NC, Mr Riven was a senior consultant at Unigate.

The Warehousing and Transport Company, responsible for Freight Special, distribution, warehousing, and Transmode, will be run by ALAN MORRIS. He joined the Southern Railway, and has been with NC since it was formed in 1969. He was Manchester depot manager then, and latterly was north western managing director• based at Manchester.

DAVID VERITY, former coaching and market development manager at West Yorkshire PTE, has crossed the Pennines to become managing director (coaching and retail) at Greater Manchester Transport. He is responsible for Charterplan, Godfrey Abbott, Warburtons, and Lancashire United Travel. Before joining WYPTE, he was a district superintendent with Ribble at Penrith, and coaching superintendent at Tyne and Wear.

Bedford has made JOHN CAMBRIDGE its rental and leasing manager. He has been Bedford TM product manager since he joined the company in 1979, after a commercial vehicle career at Guy Motors and Leyland Truck and Bus.

L. Gardner and Sons, has made DAVID NASH its marketing services manager, with overall responsibilities for advertising, publicity, market research, and parts marketing. He joins the company from the parts division of Volvo Trucks.

PATRICK FAURE has succeeded ALAIN DE SAINT-VICTOR as managing director of Renault UK, the sales company responsible for cars and light commercials (up to the Trafic and Master range). He has been with Renault since 1978.
