Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE Scottish Deputy Licensing Authority last week upheld an objection by Highland Omnibuses, Ltd., against the application of a local Operator to extend his Tomich to Beanly service 15 miles to Inverness.

The applicant, Mr. R. A. Robertson, whose passengers for Inverness transferred to a service operated by the objectors from Beauly, told the Authority that he would have to consider discontinuing the existing service if his application were not granted. He stated that the service, which he has been operating for 30 years, was unremunerative.

, Mr; R. M. Palmer, for Highland Omnibuses, said they objected .to 'any. abstraction of traffic, however small it might be. "We are operating it a loss in. this area," he. said, but -we will be able to provide improved facilities only. if we are left with the traffic we hold, and which we create."

In giving his decision, the Authority suggested that there should be closer co-operation between the company 'and the applicant to improve the co-ordination of their services.
