Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Finding new work at an acceptable rate in September was either much more or a little more difficult than at the start of the year for nearly half of respondents (46%); just 12% found it either a little or much easier.

Those hardest hit were operators serving the construction industry: finding new work was more difficult for nearly two-thirds (63%).

A third of all respondents found it more difficult to recruit new drivers, although nearly a third of logistics and contract distribution companies found it easier.

The acquisition of new vehicles at an acceptable cost was more difficult for 44% of all respondents, but easier for just 10%. It was more difficult for 42% of hire and reward hauliers – and marginally, although still notably, for 50% of logistics and contract distribution companies.

The acquisition of used vehicles at an acceptable cost was more difficult for 34% of all respondents.
