Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

T Glasgow on Monday Mr. W. F.

Quin, Scottish Licensing Authority, granted an application by Sandy Gilmour (Transport), Ltd., for a variation of an existing contract A licence to an A licence. Mr. Alex Morton, director, gave evidence that the contract A vehicle earned £20,688 in one year from Sandy Gilmour (Plant), Ltd. He confirmed that they would surrender one vehicle from contract A but would retain a platform vehicle on the licence.

The objectors argued that thetwo Gilmour companies were the self-same company; that only one of two contract licences was being surrendered and that a very serious situation could result if transport companies were permitted to float subsidiary companies to convert licences in this manner.

In summing up, Mr. Quirt said that he must consider the D. Ganef]. and Son appeal. He treated the two companies as separate entities.
