Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AN. application to convert from contract A operation to A operation 13 vehicles of 551 tons was .successf ally made by Joseph Hunter and Sons, of Pelt/tont, at Glasgow on Mianday. Mr. G. Weir, mine manager at Waldhousc, a new mine, gave evidence that the mine output would rise from 200 tons a day to 400 tons a day in early 1962. Transport needs would increase.

Mr. J. Law, for the objectors, said that Mr. Hunter had previously held licences which he had sold, re-entering the haulage industry with contract A licences, as he was entitled to do. He argued that the £8,570 gross earnings gave approximately £1,430 per vehicle per annum which would seem to argue that some consideration might be given to the question of the number of vehicles and earning power, Mr. J. B. T. Loudon, for Mr. Hunter, said he had not sold a business but only the vehicles which were unsuitable. SEEING THE LIGHT

A T a meeting of the Sheffield City 1-1 Council last week the chairman of the transport committee, Alderman S. I. Dyson, disclosed that Sheffield Transport Dept. is to experiment with fluorescent lighting in a double-deck bus now on order. He said the fitting of the fluorescent lighting would add approximately £80 to £100 to the cost of the bus. To convert older buses to this type of lighting would cost £120 to £140.
