THE first Bombardier Muskeg multi" purpose tractor to be displayed in Great Britain is to be shown by Rolba, Ltd., at the Public Works Exhibition which opens at Olympia on Monday. Rolba, Ltd., are the European concessionnaires for Bombardier Snowmobile, Ltd., Valcourt, Canada, designers of the Muskeg.

Powered by a .Perkins Six B. 305 88 b.h.p. oil engine, the Muskeg is rubber-tracked and .the all-steel welded hull is watertight up to the level of the body platform. Thus, because of its low ground pressure of under 1 lb. psi., the tractor can be driven through swamps and marshland.

The Muskeg can be fitted with a variety of cabs for from one to three persons. and a wide range of specialized bodywork can be accommodated. The track assemblies consist of two double rubber tracks reinforced by steel cables, and having 144 heavily profiled cross-links. Each track runs on eight wheels carrying pneumatic nylon tyres, and four rubber gear wheels provide the drive. A full report of the exhibition starts on page 554.

LONDON BUSMEN TRY TO ADVERTISE—IN BUSES OSTERS which. London busmen want to display, as advertisements, are not acceptable," London Transport said this week. The busmen wanted to advertise in 200 buses, asking the public to sign a petition backing their demand for an inquiry into pay and conditions on London Transport. • An L.T.E. spokesman said a seller of space was not obliged to accept advertisements attacking him.

MARKING TIME ON BUS PAY A LTHOUGH there was to be a meet£1 big of the National Joint Industrial Council for the Road Passenger Transport Industry, yesterday, writes a special correspondent, it had no special significance in respect of the imminent pay increase demands by the employees in municipal undertakings. Yesterday's talks were arranged months ago as a regular meeting.

There has, as yet, been no claim put forward on behalf of company busmen.

Last week the unions decided to lodge pay-increase claims for both municipal and company men, but they do not seem yet to have done so. It can be assumed that they will very soon.
