Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

1HE FREIGHT Transport Nssociation's director Hugh =eatherstone seems to be conem to mislead himself, as well ss others, on the matter of runling empty.

After searching the archives snd going back 32 years, he finds a case which he thinks justifies his nonsense. He states that running empty gives quality of service and it is more profitable to get a vehicle back into service than it is to bother with return loads If you take that it costs over £150 to run a vehicle empty from Glasgow to London, the vehicle (a 32-ton artic) would have to take over £400 in the time it saved by running back empty to get back what it lost and break even, let alone make a profit.

Service has to be paid for, Mr Featherstone, and a haulier can't hide his standing costs like many FTA managers must do to hide their losses.
