Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Ottershaw, Surrey-based WS Hunts Transport has introduced what is believed to be the first 35tonne GTW drawbar tanker combination for the delivery of gas, oil and paraffin.

The prime mover, re-plated in January for running at the higher weight, is a Foden 3275 LTA10275-powered 6x4 chassis with AirTrac rear air suspension. It pulls a short, air-sprung, tandemaxled Truckmate trailer built by Mike Gauntlett.

Health & Safety requirements specify the use of two axles where drawbar trailers are used on PetReg work.

Aluminium air and fuel tanks are relocated on the nearside of the truck This allowed tank manufacturer Charles Roberts to fit bottom-loading 18,400 and 7,600litre tanks and fuel discharge equipment.

The outfit tares out at 14,805kg.

Managing director George Trewitr expects the rig to be more flexible and manoeuvrable than an eight-legger; there are also VED advantages. The six-legger costs £2,260 plus £130 for the trailer; an 8x4 capable of carrying, say, 22,500 litres is rated at £4,250 a year.

Hunts Transport runs nine standard drawbars on general haulage and Trewitt is considering another which is similar to the tanker but equipped to carry bricks or tiles.
